In the Ngorongoro Highlands, you can visit a Maasai village and interact with the elders, warriors, women, and kids there. Learn about the final nomadic tribe in Tanzania and its culture, beliefs, and traditions.
Tanzania’s oldest and most well-known national park, the Serengeti, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The annual wildebeest migration, a once-in-a-lifetime event, is the most famous feature of each season in the Serengeti, a year-round destination.
Before arriving in the Northern Serengeti in time for an afternoon game drive, you will go on a game drive on route.
On a full-day game drive today, you’ll go farther into the renowned Serengeti to look for the huge wildebeest migration.
Your home base will be near the Mara River, where crocodiles hunt and wildebeest congregate to wait to cross. They will multiply for days, building expectation. However, many will abruptly turn and stray from the edge of the sea. The wildebeest will eventually select a crossing place, which fluctuates from year to year and is unpredictable.
The great wildebeest migration is the largest animal migration in the world, and seeing it in person is an experience of a lifetime.
As you go between the Northern and Central Serengeti today, you will have another full day of game drives.
You have the freedom to design your own itinerary today. You can choose to have a half-day game drive in the North and a half-day game drive in the Central Serengeti, or you can spend an additional full day in the Northern Serengeti before traveling to the Central Serengeti.
You will be rewarded today with a trip to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the few locations on earth where people and wild animals coexist together and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
Due to the constant availability of water on the crater floor, the Ngorongoro Crater is renowned as offering the greatest game watching in Africa. You will descend 610 meters into the Crater after reaching its rim, when your safari actually starts. Discover the critically endangered black rhino, wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, and of course, enormous elephants.
You will return to Arusha for your final evening after a long (6–9 hour) game drive.
After breakfast today, a transfer will take you to the airport in preparation for your next trip.
Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport is where this journey begins and ends in Arusha. Alternatively, we may arrange internal flights so that this tour begins and ends in Dar es Salaam or Nairobi.
